The work I am currently producing follows on from our recent group exhibition ‘Pattern’ held at APG works. As a group we decided we who chose a broad topic as we felt with each of our practices this would produce an interesting and varied show. Having always enjoyed clean, crisp work boarding on the graphical and illustrative with hints towards shape and geometry; I have followed my inspiration from other artists such a Michael Reeder, Matt Shilan and Bridget Riley and chosen to explore pattern in its purist form.
After visiting the Bridget Riley Exhibition, Venice and Beyond, Paintings 1967-1972 at Graves Gallery, Sheffield. I was inspired by the idea of the artist painstakingly painting each section with exact precision along with the construction of such meticulous paintings. This is something that I am hoping to capture in my work. Choosing patterns which I found visually stimulating, focusing on geometric shape do to its precise construction specifications, I began to explore how I might present these ideas in my work trialling a mix of mediums which lead to the production of my piece ‘Construction’.

While trialling mediums and production possibilities such as stencil work I began to develop my work. My work developed purely from experimentation using the stencils and testing the capabilities for varying outcomes from a set starting point. My most recent piece 'progression' features three spray painted canvases each produced using the same pattern just in two varying sizes. The overlaying of the stencils generating movement through the work, showing the pattern shifting, not only visually but dimensionally as well.
Continuing on from my previous work on the human hypochondriac state, exploring the introduction of this emotion and instruction to fear the occult, researching into the work of Roger Hiorns and Klari Reis, I decided to attempt to produce my own petri dishes, taking swobs of my own home environment as samples and growing them. This is a work in progress am something I am continuing to develop
